Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies relevant legislation, documentation, policies and procedures

works effectively with others to undertake and complete the well servicing trip production tubing / work string tasks that meets all of the required outcomes including:

supervises and train subordinates to provided standards

works as directed in a timely and efficient manner

supervises crew in correctly positioning pipe on pipe racks

demonstrates completion of well servicing trip production tubing/work string that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

removing thread protectors, drift, clean and lubricate threads

checking joints for damage to threads, sealing surfaces and flapper valves where fitted

assembling and checking operating condition of running equipment, including slips, tongs, elevators, rubber clamp, protectors

lining up pumps to fill during running operations

working derrick correctly during tripping

steadying the pipe during stabbing

releases pick-up elevators when directed

correctly align pipe for make-up

correctly latch side door or slip type elevators

checks grades of pipe

measuring and recording pipe in the numerical order in which it will be run into the hole

recognising and reporting equipment malfunction or failure


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of well servicing trip production tubing/work string through:

accessing, interpreting and applying the organisation and site requirements and procedures

carrying out rig maintenance

identifying types and characteristics of discharges including liquids, gases and solids

identifying types and characteristics of hazardous materials

carrying out inspection, fault finding and reporting requirements and procedures

identifying thread identifications, pipe size and grade

identifying pipe torque parameters

carrying out non-routine operations

determining and responding to roles and responsibilities

personnel management
